Messaging

Messaging keeps your team's communication inside the project where the work happens. Send direct messages to individual team members or use the group conversation to reach everyone at once. Attach resources to messages and track who has read what.

Conversation types

There are two types of conversations:

  • Direct messages (DMs): private conversations between you and one other team member. Only the two participants can see the messages.
  • Group (All Members): a shared conversation visible to every team member on the project. Every project has an "All Members" group conversation by default.

You can start a DM with any team member from the conversation list.

Sending messages

Each message includes:

  • Text body: the message content.
  • Resource attachment (optional): link a file or external link from your project resources directly in the message.
  • Timestamp: messages are grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, or the full date for older messages).
  • Author: the team member who sent it, shown with their name and avatar.

Read tracking

Each conversation tracks which messages have been read, so you can tell at a glance whether there are unread messages.

Unread message counts are shown on the conversation list so you know where to look first.

Message display

Messages are displayed chronologically with visual grouping by date. Each message shows the author's name, avatar (with initials if no profile image), role, and send time.

In the conversation list:

  • Group conversations show the member count.
  • DMs show the other member's name and role.
